Karapetyan sets out to consolidate the Armenian opposition
Representatives of Armenia's main opposition forces have met and discussed the issue of consolidation.
This was stated to journalists by the leader of the "Strong Armenia" party, Samvel Karapetyan, who is under house arrest, ahead of a court hearing.
"Such discussions take place almost every week. We are discussing paths of political struggle," Karapetyan said.
According to him, the meeting was held, in particular, with representatives of the "Prosperous Armenia" party (leader — Gagik Tsarukyan).
At the same time, as Karapetyan noted, no talks were held with the second president, Robert Kocharyan.
"This is not a person, this is a mechanism. We must destroy this mechanism in order to achieve final victory. The mechanism was created by serious, unfriendly states, which is why it is difficult to destroy it, time is needed," he said.
At the same time, he assured that "Strong Armenia" would not lead the country to upheavals.
"We are doing everything that will help remove the authorities by legal means," Karapetyan said.
The politician noted that he is ready to cooperate with all genuinely opposition forces.
On August 2, Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan appointed the leader of the "Civil Contract" party, Nikol Pashinyan, as the country's prime minister.
Parliamentary elections in Armenia took place on June 7, 2026. According to the official results, three political forces entered the National Assembly: the "Civil Contract" party (led by Nikol Pashinyan) received 49.7456% of the vote (726,819 votes), the "Strong Armenia" bloc — 23.2710% (340,060 votes), and the "Armenia" bloc — 9.9231% (144,983 votes).
