Apple temporarily removed Telegram from the App Store over pornographic content

Apple has temporarily restricted access to the Telegram messenger in its App Store after materials were found on the platform that violate the rules regarding content related to the sexual exploitation of children, Bloomberg reports.

The issue affected users in several countries — the app temporarily disappeared from search results and was unavailable for download in the United States, India, Australia, and Singapore.

Telegram stated that Apple had notified the messenger's team about a specific account through which the prohibited content was being distributed. After that, the service's administration blocked the violator and deleted the relevant materials.

After the identified violations were eliminated, access to Telegram in the App Store was fully restored.

As a reminder, in 2024 Telegram founder Pavel Durov was charged in France in connection with the platform's activities, including in a case involving the distribution of sexual materials involving children and other violations. Initially, he was banned from leaving the country, but these restrictions were later lifted.
