According to the channel, the main reason for the depletion of air defense stockpiles was the war with Iran. As the sources claim, the United States has used up nearly 80% of its THAAD interceptor missiles compared with prewar levels, as well as about half of its stockpile of Patriot missiles.

CNN also notes that the issue of the shortage of munitions was raised again before U.S. President Donald Trump's decision last week to forgo new strikes on Iran. According to the sources, senior military advisers have already warned the head of state at least for the second time in recent weeks about the critical reduction in stockpiles of key weapons.
