More than 140 migrants died trying to enter Ceuta from Morocco

At least 141 migrants died while attempting to enter Spain's Ceuta from Morocco, the radio station Cadena SER reports.

"At least 141 people died last week as a result of the tragedy at El Tarajal in Ceuta, which occurred after a mass influx of migrants who crossed the border from Morocco," the radio station reports.

It is noted that 78 bodies were found on the Spanish side of the border and 63 on the Moroccan side.

"Most of the deceased are between 20 and 30 years old, mainly Moroccans, although there are also several people from sub-Saharan African countries," Cadena SER reports.

At the end of July, the Spanish autonomous city of Ceuta, located in North Africa and bordering Morocco, faced a mass influx of migrants. On Tuesday, Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska reported that about 72,000 migrants had entered Spanish territory from Morocco, and about 70,000 have already returned. At the same time, the population of Ceuta itself is about 85,000 people.
