Cybercriminals who attacked thousands of foreign websites detained in Azerbaijan - video
As a result of the latest operational and technical measures carried out by officers of the Main Directorate for Combating Cybercrime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), 23-year-old Ramil Feyziev and 22-year-old Elchin Abdullazade were detained on suspicion of organizing cyberattacks on information systems of various foreign countries.
During the investigation, it was established that the detained individuals carried out interference in the servers of numerous websites belonging to foreign states and gained unauthorized access to their control panels. Then, having obtained confidential data, they made changes to the main pages of the internet resources and took them under control by placing their own software. In this way, they organized the sale of control panels of the captured internet resources.
The investigation showed that R. Feyziev carried out illegal interference and captured a total of 2,300 foreign websites, while E. Abdullazade captured 179.
A criminal case has been initiated in the Main Directorate under the relevant article of the Criminal Code. The cyber police, in cooperation with law enforcement agencies of various countries, continues operational and investigative measures.
Once again, we bring to the attention of citizens that illegal interference in information systems, their seizure or sale is a criminally punishable act. Persons who commit such illegal actions bear legal responsibility in accordance with the requirements of both local and international legislation. Persons who expect to remain anonymous in the digital environment are identified and brought to justice thanks to modern investigative and cyber forensic capabilities. It should not be forgotten that high technical knowledge and skills should serve only legal purposes, the protection of society, the state and information security.
