UEFA may launch an investigation into FIFA President Gianni Infantino
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) may launch an investigation into FIFA President Gianni Infantino over secret financial payments.
As The Telegraph reports, the reason for the review was information about a six-figure compensation that UEFA paid to a female employee who was in a romantic relationship with Infantino during his time working at the European organization.
According to a source, the investigation will cover 16 years of the official's activities at UEFA (from 2000 to 2016). Recall that Infantino held the post of the union's general secretary from 2009 to 2016, after which he was elected head of FIFA and was twice re-elected to this position unopposed. Infantino has been married since 2001 and is raising four children.
