Reuters: Cameroon's president has been outside the country for about two months

Cameroon's 93-year-old President Paul Biya, who has held the post since 1982, has been outside the country for nearly two months.

He left for Europe on June 7, reportedly on a brief private visit, and has not returned to the country since.

Meanwhile, on August 3, as the Reuters agency reported citing three presidential decrees, the head of the Cameroonian state carried out a large-scale reshuffle in the country's top military leadership.

Biya replaced commanders in four of the country's five joint military districts and appointed a new head of the Rapid Intervention Force. The head of the presidential guard was promoted from the rank of colonel to brigadier general. The changes also affected the command of motorized infantry brigades. The decrees were announced on state radio.

At the age of 93, Biya is the world's oldest serving president and the second-longest-serving among current presidents after President of Equatorial Guinea Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.

Amid his absence from the country, speculation about the head of state's health has intensified.

Government spokesman René Emmanuel Sadi said earlier that the president is alive and will return to the country soon.
