How to avoid becoming a victim of fraud when shopping online: Warning from the Ministry of Internal Affairs - PHOTO
Despite regularly conducted awareness campaigns and numerous warnings, cases in which citizens of Azerbaijan fall victim to cyber fraud while making online purchases continue to be recorded.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs notes that the investigations conducted and the complaints received show that cyber fraudsters create fake pages selling goods, offering various products at attractive prices.
After receiving payment, they cut off contact with the buyer, blocking their phone number and social media accounts.
In order to prevent such cases, citizens are advised to check in advance the reliability of the product sales pages they encounter on the internet and social media, not to order goods from unfamiliar or untrustworthy individuals, and to exercise particular caution regarding offers that require prepayment.
Before ordering a product and making a payment, it is important to check information about the seller, their contact details, as well as the authenticity of the page presented.
"Do not make payments through pages and websites that you do not trust or whose authenticity you are not sure of. Do not give third parties your bank card details, CVV/CVC code, confirmation codes received via SMS, or other confidential information," the Ministry of Internal Affairs notes, emphasizing that when encountering instances of cyber fraud, one should immediately contact the Ministry of Internal Affairs at "102" or the agency's official social media pages.
