Pete Hegseth: The U.S. is considering all options on Cuba, including military ones

The Washington administration is currently considering all options for further steps regarding Cuba, including military action.

U.S. War Secretary Pete Hegseth told reporters in Panama.

"All options are being considered, including military ones," he said, answering a question about the possibility of U.S. military action against the Caribbean republic. "It would be wise for Cuba to take into account [U.S.] President [Donald] Trump's readiness to defend key American strategic interests." Hegseth also noted that the U.S. has "many options" for further actions regarding Cuba.

Trump announced on March 5 that Washington intends to work out a further course of action regarding Cuba after the completion of the operation against Iran. On February 27, the master of the White House said that the United States could establish control over Cuba. The newspaper Politico reported on May 18 that the American government is increasingly leaning toward the use of military force against Cuba. In an interview with the Axios portal in June, the American leader allowed for the possibility of conducting an operation in Cuba to change its leadership.
