NATO fighter jets shoot down drone that flew into Latvia
In Latvia, NATO fighter jets shot down a drone early in the morning that had flown across the border, the National Armed Forces (NAF) of Latvia reported.
"The drone was shot down at a high altitude over Rugāji in the Balvi region," Iveta Bērziņa, a representative of the NAF joint staff, told Latvian Television.
The drone entered Latvian airspace as a result of the impact of Russian electronic air defense systems, the military believes.
Fighter jets of the NATO air defense mission were scrambled in connection with the threat of penetration into the republic's airspace. A warning about the threat was distributed in a number of regions of Latvia.
