Lavrov: Turkey will never be admitted to the European Union

Despite its desire to have relations with the European Union, Turkey deep down understands that it will never be admitted to the bloc, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.

"Turkey wants to be both a NATO member as the bloc's largest army and to have relations with the European Union, although deep down it understands that it will never be admitted to the EU," the minister said in an interview with the Vesti information service.
