The explosion at the munitions plant near Rome occurred in an unused storage facility, the city hall of Colleferro, where the enterprise is located, told RIA Novosti.
"The fire that followed the explosion has been extinguished, safety measures have been taken, including with regard to the environment. This was an incident in a warehouse that was not used in production. There were no employees or materials there," the agency's source said.
A powerful explosion occurred at the site of a munitions plant in the town of Colleferro, 60 kilometers from Rome. No one was injured as a result of the incident.
The enterprise where the explosion occurred belongs to the French-German group KNDS. The Colleferro city hall reported that the plant made munitions for tanks, with deliveries to Western European countries.
