Kazakhstan names possible hosts of the "Games of the Future 2027": Azerbaijan among them
Brazil, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan could become contenders to host the Games of the Future next year. Kazakhstan, which hosted the competition this year, is ready to support any candidacy and share its experience in organizing the tournament, Kazakhstan's Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports Serik Zharasbayev told TASS.
"The likely contenders that are ready to host these games are Brazil, and one of the potential contenders is Uzbekistan. I have also heard about Azerbaijan," he said, answering a question about the venue of the next tournament.
As the vice minister noted, more specific information on the candidates will be announced after all the results of the Games of the Future, which concluded in Astana, have been summed up. At the same time, Zharasbayev added that Kazakhstan would support any candidate. "Kazakhstan will support any country that takes the initiative to host the Games of the Future. We will gladly share our experience of holding the Games here and are even ready to join the organizing committee, since our guys have gained quite a lot of experience. We spent two years preparing for these Games. I think we have something to tell and something to share," the vice minister emphasized.
The Games of the Future were held in Astana from July 29 to August 9. According to the republic's Ministry of Tourism and Sports, broadcasts of the competitions were viewed more than 453 million times, and another 29,000 spectators visited stadiums in Kazakhstan's capital to watch the tournament's matches.
The tournament, which combines esports and traditional sports, was conceived in Russia and was held for the first time in Kazan in 2024. At the opening of those Games, Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev put forward an initiative to hold such a competition in the republic. In 2025, the tournament was held in the UAE. At the Games of the Future 2026, competitions were held in eight disciplines — phygital football, phygital basketball, phygital shooters, phygital martial arts, phygital dance, Dota 2, MLBB, and PUBG: Battlegrounds.
