Turkey will continue to contribute to preserving Syria's sovereignty, territorial integrity and security — Ministry of Defense
Turkey will continue to work resolutely and provide assistance in order to preserve Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as to establish a stable and secure system in the country.
This was stated by the official representative of Turkey's Ministry of National Defense, Rear Admiral Zeki Aktürk, at a press briefing.
Speaking about developments in the Middle East, he noted that resolving the severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza and creating the conditions for the start of the reconstruction process are of great importance for establishing lasting peace and stability in the region.
"Israel's rejection of the 'Gaza plan' and its continuation of attacks in the region undermine efforts to establish a just and lasting peace. Despite the signed framework agreement, Israel is continuing attacks and military activity in southern Lebanon, and with its latest strikes on Syria it is also targeting that country's territorial integrity, sovereignty and unity. Under no circumstances should the perception be allowed to form that Israel's military intervention in neighboring countries is a normal and acceptable phenomenon. The future of the region must be built not on the unilateral use of force, but on an understanding of security based on international law and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states."
According to him, the international community needs to take "more concrete and effective measures in response to Israel's actions that threaten regional peace and stability, upholding international law and humanitarian values."
"Our priority is to prevent our region from being drawn further into conflicts and instability and to ensure lasting peace and security," Aktürk said.
