Iran reacts sharply to new U.S. sanctions

Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reacted sharply to the new and comprehensive sanctions imposed on the country by the U.S. administration.

This was stated in a written statement by the ministry.

In the statement, Washington's actions were characterized as "economic terrorism" and a "crime against humanity."

It is noted that the announcement of the sanctions coincided with the anniversary of the coup d'état that took place in Iran in 1953 and is yet another manifestation of U.S. policy directed against the Iranian people and continuing over the course of decades. It is also emphasized that the broad economic and trade restrictions directly affect the fundamental rights of Iran's citizens.

The Foreign Ministry stated that over the past year and a half, attempts by the United States and Israel to pressure Iran and force Tehran to accept their conditions have failed. According to the ministry's assessment, such actions are incapable of weakening the determination of the Iranian people to defend their independence, dignity, and national sovereignty.
