Nazarbayev voted in the Kurultai elections at home
Kazakhstan's first president, Nursultan Nazarbayev, took part in the elections of deputies to the country's new unicameral parliament at home.
This was reported by his press service.
According to the office, Nazarbayev exercised his right to vote at home because of his health condition following recent spinal surgery.
The elections are being held after the entry into force on July 1 of Kazakhstan's new Constitution, which provides for a transition from a bicameral parliament to a unicameral Kurultai. The Kurultai will consist of 145 deputies elected from party lists for a five-year term.
