Death toll from earthquake in Venezuela rises
The number of people killed in the earthquakes in Venezuela has reached 6,509.
This was reported on August 25 by the speaker of the National Assembly of the Bolivarian Republic, Jorge Rodríguez.
“Deaths: 6,509,” the publication on the Telegram channel says.
It is noted that 6,462 people have been rescued, and the number of those hospitalized in medical facilities has reached almost 226,700.
The earthquakes in Venezuela occurred on June 24. The epicenter was located 60 km northwest of the city of Valencia, as well as 28 km northeast of San Felipe. The earthquake was the strongest in the country since 1900.
As a result of the natural disaster, tens of thousands of buildings were damaged, and more than 53,000 structures have been inspected.
In addition, 287 homes have been handed over to those left homeless.
