"He is not my Catholicos": Rubinyan demanded that Garegin II step down

"He is not my Catholicos. He is not the Catholicos of All Armenians."

This was stated at a session of the National Assembly by Parliament Speaker Ruben Rubinyan, referring to the Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II.

In particular, he called on the Supreme Patriarch to resign.

"I don't need the next Catholicos to be pro-government or a representative of the Civil Contract. Let it be a person whom everyone will recognize as the Catholicos of All Armenians, a person who has no children. Or let them change the rules and officially enshrine the renunciation of the vow of celibacy. Let them have children," Rubinyan added.
