Pezeshkian: Islamic countries need unity to ensure security

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has called on Islamic states to reach agreements that would ensure their collective security and protection from external threats.

"The Islamic nation will not achieve independence and a dignified life other than through cooperation and consolidation," said the politician, whose words were cited by the Al Mayadeen television channel. "Unity based on truth, justice, and mutual responsibility is what Islamic countries need most right now."

Pezeshkian spoke at the opening of the 40th International Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran, which, according to him, is taking place under exceptional circumstances. In his speech, he emphasized that "no Islamic country should become a platform for aggression against another."

"Iran exercised its legitimate right to defend itself against the war unleashed against it by the United States and Israel, but this does not mean it is hostile toward its Muslim neighbors," he pointed out.

According to the president of the Islamic Republic, Iran "is not currently in a vulnerable position and knows how to defend itself."
