Armenia should be ashamed of its statements about the railway, Zakharova believes

The South Caucasus Railway company fulfills its obligations with maximum responsibility: it has made investments totaling more than 30 billion rubles, including in the renewal of rolling stock, said the official representative of Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova.

"It is important that their schedule was adjusted precisely at the request of the Armenian side. It was the expertise of Russian railway workers that helped Armenia preserve the competitive advantages that today make it possible to talk about unblocking communications in the region," she said.

According to Zakharova, Yerevan's arguments that the Russian concession prevents Armenia from becoming a participant in logistics initiatives "absolutely do not correspond to reality, it is simply shameful to listen to all this, I no longer know how they are not ashamed to say such things."

She asserts that all clarifications on this matter have been provided by the Russian side at various levels, while the Armenian side finds it difficult to present counterarguments, reasons, or facts, "because there simply are none."

"Given that the issue of transferring the concession to anyone was not previously raised, it can be assumed with a high degree of probability that the Armenian leadership is simply being blackmailed and required to eliminate the so-called Russian factor in the transport sphere, and in exchange they are promised multimillion-dollar investments with connection to projects whose economic feasibility is not apparent. Yet the promises are made. This is quite in the spirit of the unscrupulous games of Western capitals aimed at ousting Russia from the South Caucasus region. How much Armenia will suffer from this, I think, is obvious to literally everyone," the diplomat said.
