Lavrov: Armenia developed thanks to the EAEU
Statements by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan that a referendum on the republic's accession to the EU can only be discussed after an application is submitted and a "road map" is prepared testify to his "not very great trust" in his own people, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov pointed out in an interview with the RBC television channel.
"Just the other day I read the news that Nikol Pashinyan said that a referendum can be discussed when they submit an application to the European Union, when there is a reaction to it and when a 'road map' for this accession is prepared," the minister recalled. "Then, in his words, there will be a referendum."
"In my opinion, this indicates not very great trust in Armenian voters, in the Armenian people," Lavrov noted. "It is precisely necessary to present an honest choice: between what you are choosing, how you live now, when over the past three years trade turnover was more than six billion, and one year twelve billion. Generally speaking, Armenia developed thanks to the EAEU."
