U.S. considers Canadian TV's refusal to call September 11 events a terrorist attack an insult

The refusal of the Canadian national public broadcaster CBC to call the events of September 11, 2001, a terrorist attack is an insult and an unacceptable distortion of history.

This was stated by the director of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Kash Patel.

"Any organization in Canada that does not publicly renounce the distortion of history and the insult to the memory of those who died in the largest terrorist attack in U.S. history will no longer be a partner for the FBI. <...> The victims will never be forgotten," Patel wrote on X.

Earlier, the National Post newspaper reported that the Canadian broadcaster CBC had sent employees an internal directive recommending that the events of September 11 not be called a terrorist attack. The CBC press service indicated that the directive was a reminder of the network's editorial standard, and not an attempt to reinterpret what had happened.
