Court arrests two schoolgirls on suspicion of murdering a sixth-grader in the Moscow region
The Orekhovo-Zuyevo City Court of the Moscow region has ordered two underage girls suspected of murdering a 12-year-old sixth-grader to be held in custody for two months.
The incident occurred in the village of Kabanovo in the Orekhovo-Zuyevo urban district. On August 26, the boy did not return home, after which he was declared missing. Volunteers and search teams found the child's body, bearing signs of a violent death, in the basement of an abandoned building on the grounds of a former vocational school.
Preliminary versions under consideration are that the girls feared the disclosure of details of their personal lives, or that one of them said she wanted to find out what it is like to commit a murder. The father of one of the detained girls said that his daughter had admitted her guilt and repents of what she had done, stressing that no one had forced her to commit the crime.
