Alexander Stubb: China assured Finland it will not allow a Russian nuclear strike on Ukraine
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi assured Helsinki that Beijing will not allow Russia to carry out a nuclear strike on Ukraine.
Finnish President Alexander Stubb said this in an interview with the German newspaper Bild. According to the Finnish leader, he discussed the issue with the head of Chinese diplomacy during the latter's visit to Helsinki in July. Stubb called Beijing's position an effective deterrent factor.
The head of state also noted that he considers a Russian attack on NATO unlikely. He emphasized that the alliance possesses the world's strongest deterrent capability, but urged that preparations for possible risks continue.
