Kim Jong Un replaces North Korea's defense minister

North Korean Defense Minister No Kwang Chol has been removed from his post and appointed first deputy head of the defense industry department of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK).

As the KCNA reports, citing the decisions of the second meeting of the Central Military Commission of the ninth convocation of the WPK led by Kim Jong Un, No Kwang Chol has also been recalled from the party's central governing body. The new defense minister of North Korea is Kim Song Gi, head of the General Political Bureau of the Korean People's Army.

The meeting of the party body at which the personnel decisions were made took place on August 29 in Pyongyang.
