Istanbul to host first meeting of the "Mecca Alliance" of Turkey, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia

Tomorrow, Istanbul will host the first meeting of the "Mecca Alliance," which includes Turkey, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

Taking part in the event will be Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Pakistani Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud. The meeting will be the first session of the Strategic Political and Defense Committee, which is being created to determine the strategic areas of activity under the "Mecca Joint Defense Agreement."

The participants will discuss issues of international security, the development of defense capabilities, the interoperability of the armed forces of the three states and the deepening of cooperation in the defense industry, including joint projects and scientific research. In addition, there are plans to step up the fight against terrorism, define the framework for the work of the coordinating Secretariat and prepare a road map for further steps. The Turkish foreign policy agency noted that this agreement opens up opportunities for strengthening security and stability in the region through cooperation and the prioritization of peace instead of confrontation.
