Starmer is leaving again: From where?

Former British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced his intention to give up his seat as a member of the House of Commons of the British Parliament.

In an interview with the London local newspaper Camden New Journal, the politician noted that he intends to focus on other areas, primarily on international issues, including defense, security, trade, and technology. According to Starmer, under the current circumstances he considers it right to step down as a member of parliament.

As the publication notes, the exact timing of Starmer's resignation of his parliamentary powers will be determined in the coming weeks.

Starmer left the post of British prime minister on July 20, after which he was succeeded by former Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham. Prior to that, he had also stepped down as leader of the ruling Labour Party.

In total, Starmer held the post of head of the British government for 2 years and 15 days, which corresponds to the 43rd result among the 58 British prime ministers.
