Two sailors killed in incident involving tanker SIDR
Two Filipino crew members died as a result of an incident involving the tanker SIDR, owned by the Saudi shipping company Bahri, while passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
Bahri announced this on the social network X.
"Bahri confirms that the company-owned vessel SIDR was involved in a security-related incident while transiting the Strait of Hormuz at approximately 23:40 local time on August 31, 2026. With deep sorrow, Bahri confirms the deaths of two Filipino crew members as a result of the incident," the statement said.
The company expressed its condolences to the families, loved ones, and colleagues of the deceased, noting that it is providing them with the necessary support.
Bahri continues to maintain contact with the vessel, is coordinating with the relevant authorities and maritime industry representatives, and is monitoring the development of the situation.
