Erdogan warns Greece: "We will do what is necessary"

Anyone who perceives Turkey's cool-headed and measured approach as a sign of weakness is making a serious mistake.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said this while answering questions from journalists, Haberler reports.

Erdogan noted that Turkey's restrained position should not be taken as weakness. Addressing the Athens administration, he declared: "We will do what is necessary," and called for an end to activities aimed at arming the islands.

The Turkish president emphasized that boundaries should not be put to the test, adding that disregarding international agreements will benefit no one.

Erdogan also drew attention to historical responsibility and the need to ensure regional stability:

"I say it plainly: anyone who reads Turkey's cool-headed and level-headed approach as weakness is making a serious mistake. Greece must step off the mistaken path it has embarked upon and abandon the arming of islands with demilitarized status. History is a very good guide for those who learn its lessons. We will continue to work for the sake of peace, security and stability in our region."
