EU temporarily approves the removal of duties on 80% of Armenia's exports to the union

The Council of the EU has approved a temporary liberalization of trade with Armenia; the new measures will exempt about 80% of Armenian exports to the European Union from duties, according to a statement by the Council of the EU.

"These measures will liberalize about 80% of Armenian exports to the EU," the document says, as quoted by RIA Novosti.

The regulation provides for the temporary removal (for 2 years) of import duties on a broad list of Armenian products, including some agricultural goods. For final adoption, the regulation must be approved by the European Parliament, with a vote expected at the September plenary session.

President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen announced this decision back in early July during a visit to Yerevan.
