Previously unreleased footage of George Michael to be shown on the big screen – VIDEO
The official trailer for the concert film George Michael: The Faith Tour has been released, based on previously unreleased footage of British singer George Michael's performances in Paris in 1988.
The film is based on recordings of two George Michael concerts at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy in May 1988, held as part of his first solo tour, the Faith Tour. At the time, the singer was 24 years old, and his debut solo album Faith, released a year earlier, was at the peak of its popularity.
The uniqueness of the project lies in the fact that the material used was recently discovered after a long absence. The concerts were filmed with 14 cameras on 35-millimeter film, after which the original recordings were restored and remastered for the big screen.
The trailer shows George Michael performing his well-known hits, including Careless Whisper, Father Figure, Faith and others. The film will also include a previously unreleased interview with the singer, which will be used as voice-over narration.
Before the screening of the film, audiences will also be shown the short film Finding Faith, created by Mary McCartney — it will include previously unpublished photographs by Herb Ritts, archival material and footage from the shooting of the Faith video, as well as excerpts from the discovered interview with George Michael.
The Faith Tour was Michael's first large-scale solo tour after the end of his work in the duo Wham!. In total, the singer gave more than 100 concerts in 16 countries — the tour's choreographer was future pop star Paula Abdul.
"George Michael: The Faith Tour" will be released in theaters in various countries in November 2026. In the United States and Canada, the premiere will take place on December 11. It is known that, simultaneously with the film, an 18-track live album is planned for release, which will include previously unreleased recordings of performances by George Michael and Wham!.
On December 25, 2016, George Michael died at his home in South Oxfordshire (southern England) in his sleep from heart failure at the age of 53.
