Head of Rosatom to visit Armenia
The head of Rosatom, Alexey Likhachev, will visit Yerevan on September 29. He announced this on air on SputnikLive.
The agreement on the visit was reached at the meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Bishkek. The leaders discussed in detail the issue of building a new nuclear power plant.
According to Likhachev, Armenia's plans to install small modular reactors may change in favor of gigawatt-capacity reactors. In this regard, a substantive conversation is to take place in Armenia.
«The projected energy deficit in the republic may increase due to the use of data processing centers (DPCs), AI systems, and the development of the digital economy. We also see an optimistic forecast for energy consumption,» the head of Rosatom stated.
At the same time, he noted that even with an energy surplus in the South Caucasus, there will be ample room for exports, and Russia is ready to facilitate this.
