Overchuk: The West is trying to use Armenia as a "battering ram" against Russia
The West is currently in effect trying to use Armenia as a "battering ram" against Russia.
This was stated by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk in an interview with a journalist from "Vesti."
According to him, Yerevan needs to decide whether it intends to maintain allied relations with Russia or is counting on the support of Western countries.
"And if they believe that participation in the EU will produce the same results, then, as they say, welcome, that is their right. But either they are in the EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union — ed.) and they are our allies, and then we support them, or they go there and count on the support of those who today are in effect trying to use Armenia as a kind of battering ram against Russia," Overchuk said.
The deputy prime minister also stated that Armenia does not intend to withdraw from the EAEU. According to him, the country understands what consequences such a decision could lead to.
