Armenian citizen sentenced in the U.S.

On September 2, a federal court in Austin, Texas, sentenced Armenian citizen Kamo Kirakosyan to 26 months in prison for taking part in a criminal conspiracy to export goods from the U.S. to Russia via Armenia without the license or authorization required by American authorities.

According to the indictment, from February 2022 to August 2024, Kirakosyan acted as a straw buyer of goods of American origin for his accomplices in Russia. Among them were components that can be used in the production of semiconductors.

Kirakosyan was initially charged at the end of July 2024. In August 2025, he was extradited from Germany to the United States.

In April 2026, Kirakosyan pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to violate federal law.
