Iran threatens the U.S. with a strike over Israel's operation in Lebanon

Iran has warned the United States of a possible large-scale strike in the event of an Israeli offensive against the Ali al-Tahar mountain ridge in southern Lebanon.

It is believed that Hezbollah militants and representatives of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) are located in this area.

This was reported by Reuters, citing sources.

According to the agency, the warning was conveyed to Washington around mid-August through Oman. Two sources claim that more than ten IRGC servicemen are in the area of the ridge, including at least two high-ranking officers.

The Ali al-Tahar ridge is of strategic importance due to its commanding position over the southeastern regions of Lebanon. According to Lebanese security sources, Hezbollah has equipped an underground command center and weapons depots there.

The Israeli military considers this area one of the key directions of its operations. Israel already controls the territories south of the ridge and has restricted access to this zone.

According to one of Reuters' sources, after receiving the Iranian warning and amid pressure from the United States, Israel postponed a possible ground operation against Ali al-Tahar.

Instead of storming it, the Israeli military is said to be trying to block the militants located underground, depriving them of access to food and water.
