Armenia is looking for a new ambassador to Russia

The Armenian authorities are continuing to search for a candidate for the post of new ambassador to Russia.

The work of the former ambassador, Gurgen Arsenyan, did not live up to the expectations of the Armenian prime minister. Nikol Pashinyan's personal efforts to improve relations between the two countries have also not yet produced results, the newspaper Zhoghovurd writes.

As the publication notes, Pashinyan intends to send to Moscow not just a diplomat, but a person from his own political team who will be able to interact effectively with the Russian side at various levels and, if necessary, resolve contentious issues in relations between Yerevan and Moscow.

This issue is becoming especially relevant against the backdrop of Pashinyan's upcoming visit to Moscow.

Earlier, the media named Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan as a possible candidate for the ambassadorial post.
