Armenian citizen sentenced in the U.S. for circumventing Russia sanctions
A federal court in Austin has sentenced a 39-year-old citizen of Armenia to two years in prison for taking part in a criminal conspiracy to illegally export American technology and equipment to Russia in circumvention of sanctions.

The federal court in Austin (state of Texas) sentenced Armenian citizen Kamo Kirakosyan to 2 years and 2 months in prison. Earlier, in April 2026, Kirakosyan pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to violate U.S. federal law. According to the indictment and the investigation by TriTrace Investigations, from February 2022 to August 2024 he acted as a front buyer of goods of American origin for Russian customers, concealing the end recipients.
Kirakosyan was a regular supplier for the Russian company JSC "Vacuum.ru" and presented himself to sellers as a client from Armenia.
He was detained in Germany in July 2024 and extradited to the United States in August 2025 with the participation of the FBI's Berlin office and the U.S. Department of Justice. The investigation was conducted by the FBI counterintelligence team in San Antonio and the Bureau of Industry and Security of the U.S. Department of Commerce. This sentence became the first case in the past four years of an Armenian citizen being convicted in the United States for organizing the circumvention of anti-Russian sanctions.
