Turkey-Russia talks on selling S-400 to a third country enter final stage

Ankara and Moscow have entered the final stage of negotiations on the sale to a third country of the S-400 air defense missile systems that Turkey purchased from Russia.

According to the newspaper Yeni Akit, significant progress on this issue was achieved during the contacts of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Kyrgyzstan, and the United Arab Emirates is being considered as a potential buyer of the systems.

The purchase of the Russian systems previously led to Turkey's exclusion from the F-35 fighter jet program and became the main stumbling block in relations with the United States. A potential resolution of this situation could remove the key obstacle to Ankara's return to the F-35 program. Earlier, the Russian side also confirmed that contacts regarding the future of these systems are continuing.
