Axios reveals the makeup of the U.S. delegation at the meeting with Putin in the Kremlin

The American delegation that arrived in Moscow for talks together with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner included representatives of the U.S. National Security Council, the State Department, and the Treasury Department.

This was reported by Axios journalist Barak Ravid, citing his own sources.

According to Ravid, Witkoff and Kushner held a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin to advance American leader Donald Trump's course toward settling the conflict in Ukraine. The sides discussed specific plans for further action, which are due to be announced in the coming weeks.

As the journalist specified, Moscow was also visited by a senior U.S. Treasury official, Gene Lang, who oversees the sanctions track. He did not take part in the meeting with the head of the Russian state, but held working contacts with the Russian president's special representative, Kirill Dmitriev.

As a reminder, the meeting of Vladimir Putin with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner took place in the Kremlin on September 5 and lasted more than three hours. The Russian leader's aide, Yuri Ushakov, described the talks as timely and useful, noting that the sides touched not only on a Ukrainian settlement but also on the prospects for major bilateral projects. On September 6, the American negotiators have a meeting scheduled with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
