Deadly avalanche in Bezengi: there are victims - VIDEO

The number of climbers killed as a result of an avalanche in the Bezengi Gorge of Kabardino-Balkaria has risen to 11 people.

This was reported to TASS by the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The number of injured has risen to six. Another six climbers are still listed as missing.

The tragedy occurred in the Bezengi Gorge. The avalanche came down from Mount Mizhirgi, which is 5,025 meters high, and buried a group of climbers.

Rescuers and an Mi-8 helicopter were dispatched to the scene. Three survivors were evacuated to Nalchik.

The search and rescue operation is continuing.
