UAE says relations with Iran need to be restored
The United Arab Emirates will sooner or later be forced to restore relations with Iran after the end of the conflict in the Middle East.
This was stated by Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to the president of the UAE.
«Relations with Iran remain a central issue not only for the UAE, but for all the countries of the Persian Gulf. Iran remains our neighbor, and at some point we will have to find a way to restore what can be restored. Geography leaves us no alternative», - he said during a speech at the Hili Forum international forum, dedicated to issues of geopolitics, the economy, and security in the Middle East, in Abu Dhabi.
At the same time, Gargash emphasized that restoring trust between the countries is a separate issue. According to him, establishing «functional relations» is significantly easier, whereas restoring trust may require «many years, and possibly decades».
