Azerbaijan to crack down on illegal street trade in food products
Azerbaijan plans to strengthen control measures to prevent illegal street trade in food products.
As 1news.az reports, the relevant measures are envisaged by the State Program on Ensuring Food Security in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2027–2032, approved by an order of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev dated September 10, 2026.
Under the program, at the first stage, proposals will be developed to improve the existing mechanisms for controlling illegal trade in food products on the streets.
After that, it is planned to create a system of joint control involving several state agencies. Coordination of the measure is entrusted to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The Food Safety Agency, the Ministry of Economy, local executive authorities and other relevant state institutions will also participate in implementing the measures.
It is expected that the implementation of these measures will reduce the number of cases of illegal street trade in food products.
Activities in this area are planned for the period from 2028 to 2032.
