The wise leadership of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and his support for Serbia remain one of the important pillars of relations between Azerbaijan and Serbia.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić wrote about this on Facebook after a meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador of Azerbaijan to the country, Tahir Taghizade.
"The wise leadership and sincere sympathy of President Ilham Aliyev toward our country remain one of the pillars of the comprehensive relations between our two countries," Vučić stated.
He reported that he asked the ambassador to convey the warmest greetings to President Ilham Aliyev.
The Serbian president also noted the active political dialogue and frequent meetings of representatives of the two countries at various levels.
According to Vučić, President Ilham Aliyev's visit to Belgrade, during which the first meeting of the Strategic Partnership Council took place, opened a new chapter in relations between Serbia and Azerbaijan.
The Serbian president also noted the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation beyond energy and infrastructure into such areas as trade, investment, culture, education, and tourism.
He also expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for confirming its participation in EXPO 2027 in Belgrade.
Vučić emphasized that mutual support for sovereignty and territorial integrity is one of the foundations of trust between Serbia and Azerbaijan.
