As PEOPLE reports, on September 21 the medical examiner's office confirmed to the publication that an examination of P. Gerber's body was scheduled to take place that day.
The statement notes that the investigation is ongoing and that the information available at this time is limited. Presley Gerber was pronounced dead by paramedics who arrived at 9:45 a.m. on September 20, 2026. The Santa Monica police are conducting the investigation.
Earlier, PEOPLE reported that Gerber was at a rehabilitation center when he died. According to the medical examiner's office, the official cause of death has not yet been established. The agency must conduct the necessary studies, including a toxicology examination.
Meanwhile, TMZ, citing sources, reports a suspected overdose. According to the publication, P. Gerber's relatives were told that his death may have been linked to an overdose. Later, TMZ, citing the Santa Monica police, reported that the initial 911 call came in as a report of a possible overdose, and the death is currently being investigated as a possible drug overdose.
