Minister: Social benefit and pension payments in Azerbaijan have grown fivefold
In 2018–2026, five major packages of social reforms were implemented. With an annual additional financial volume of 8 billion manats, these reforms covered 4 million people.
As 1news.az reports, this was stated by Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Anar Aliyev at the II Azerbaijan International Investment Forum during the panel "Investment in Human Capital and the Skills of the Future."
The minister noted that improving the social well-being of the population forms the basis of the concept of a strong social state in Azerbaijan.
According to him, as a result of the measures implemented, the minimum wage has grown 3.1 times, the minimum pension 2.9 times, and the average monthly pension 2.6 times.
"The volume of social benefit payments and presidential pensions has grown fivefold and reached 2.1 billion manats. Over the same period, the number of people provided with jobs increased 3.6 times, those involved in the self-employment program 2.7 times, those engaged in vocational training 7.1 times, and the number of people covered by unemployment insurance payments 4.3 times," A. Aliyev said.
The minister emphasized that over the same period the number of employment contracts increased by 44.6% and reached 1.86 million, while the payroll fund grew 3.4 times.
"These indicators reflect not only the strengthening of the social protection system in our country, but also the results of a consistent policy aimed at legalizing labor relations and increasing the transparency of the labor market," he added.
A. Aliyev also noted the successful implementation of digital transformation in the field of social protection and employment.
"At present, 90% of the 152 services provided by the ministry have been digitized, including the launch of 55 proactive services. The integration of our electronic systems with the information databases of about 80 institutions has been ensured," the minister reported.
According to him, 97% of employment contracts were concluded in electronic format through the "Labor and Employment" subsystem.
