Pilot wounded on FlyDubai flight is an Indian citizen
Flydubai pilot Smit Machchhar, who was stabbed, is an Indian citizen, Hindustan Times reports, citing sources.
Machchhar was in command of the crew of the flight on the Dubai — Tel Aviv route. According to the publication, during the flight the co-pilot stabbed him, after which the plane made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia. Information about the victim's condition has not yet been received.
Smit Machchhar has worked as a captain for Flydubai since June 2022. Before that, he was a pilot for the Indian airline SpiceJet for more than 11 years, where he subsequently became a senior commander and instructor captain.
Machchhar's total flight time is about 9,750 hours, of which he spent more than 6,400 hours as the captain of an aircraft.
