The United States will soon announce the extension of a special regime for Russian oil, for which sanctions were eased following the start of the Middle East conflict.

Last month, the U.S. Treasury Department allowed the sale of sanctioned oil loaded onto vessels until April 11. A similar relaxation was applied to Iranian oil already at sea, with a deadline of March 19.
According to Semafor sources from the State Department and former U.S. Treasury officials, the extension of measures concerning Russia will be announced this week. This could lead to a similar step regarding Iranian oil, as noted in the publication.
