Investigation sanctioned against Ankara mayor in Turkey

The Ministry of Interior of Turkey has issued permission to conduct an investigation against Ankara Mayor Mansur Yavaş.

This decision is related to allegations that municipal transport vehicles were used during a pre-election rally in Karabük in 2023.

Mansur Yavaş has the right to appeal this decision within 10 days.

The Ankara Municipality, in turn, stated that the Ministry of Interior's dossier explicitly indicates that "no written or verbal orders were given for the use of municipal equipment in pre-election activities."
