US President Donald Trump claims that Iran is ready to hand over enriched uranium to the United States.
"Iran has no nuclear weapons, and they have agreed to this... They have agreed to return to us the nuclear dust that is deep underground due to the strikes we carried out with B-2 bombers," the Washington Post quotes the American leader as saying.
As the publication notes, Trump uses the term "nuclear dust" to refer to highly enriched uranium.
The US and Israel began striking targets in Iran on February 28, with the aggression claiming over three thousand lives. On April 8, Washington and Tehran announced a two-week ceasefire. The subsequent talks in Islamabad ended without results. While there have been no reports of renewed hostilities, the US has initiated a blockade of Iranian ports. Mediators are attempting to organize a new round of negotiations.
