Montenegro will extradite to Azerbaijan citizen wanted by Interpol

As a result of negotiations conducted following a request from the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan to the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Montenegro and the submission of documents required in accordance with international procedures, the Supreme Court of Podgorica has agreed to transfer citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan Gidayat Nemat oglu Suleymanov to our country on the basis of a simplified extradition procedure.

As 1news.az was informed by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, in a criminal case investigated by the Sumgayit city police department, Gidayat Suleymanov, in order to seize someone else's property by abusing trust and deception, posing as an official, gave the victim a false promise to perform all work, including the construction of a house on a land plot registered in the name of the victim's mother, and to obtain permits from state bodies. Thus, he deceived the victim and committed fraud, causing him significant damage.

In this regard, a decision was made to charge Gidayat Suleymanov with fraud. He was hiding from the investigation, so through the National Central Bureau of Interpol in Baku he was put on the international wanted list. As a result of operational-search measures, he was detained on the territory of Montenegro.

Currently, the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice is taking measures to deliver Gidayat Suleymanov to our country.

At the same time, the Prosecutor General's Office continues close cooperation with foreign partner structures, including Interpol, in order to establish the location of wanted persons in foreign states and their extradition to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
